Hot Lunch

What is Hot Lunch?

Hot Lunch is a PTA-sponsored, parent-organized, and volunteer-dependent lunch program available to grades 1 through 5 at Burton Valley.  The Burton Valley PTA, in partnership with Sodexho, offers a lunch, salad bar, and beverage program five days a week.  Students use an Electronic Meal Card to acquire food available in Burton Valley’s lunchroom.  Children are always welcomed to bring lunch from home and purchase milk, water or juice.

The Hot Lunch Program Needs You!

The Hot Lunch Program is dependent on help from Moms’ and Dads’. Please consider volunteering; it's a small commitment and it's FUN!  You can volunteer once a week, once a month or even once a year for just 60 or 90 minutes. Plus you get to see what your kids do during lunch time!

Hot Lunch Program Goals for 2009/2010
  • Provide a variety of healthy choices for students that comply with the current legislation.
  • Exceed legislation for healthy meals while providing kid-friendly meals.
  • Encourage student participation on "Try It" Days to choose healthy menu items for the Hot Lunch Program.
  • Continue to introduce healthy foods that the kids like and will eat -- with an emphasis on preparing homemade items in our own kitchen.
