President's Day
| - No school - Fri., Feb. 12, and Mon., Feb. 15th
|
| President's Message Another busy week at Burton Valley! This week I'd like to extend a special thank you to the auction committee who are all working so hard putting together a wonderful, community building and fundraising event for our school. I just attended the LASF Starry, Starry Night event and it reminded me how much work goes into an evening like that. It was fun seeing some BVE families as well as catching up with friends from other schools. I think that's what makes the LASF events unique - being with the whole community. What Sarah Cusumano and her army of volunteers are planning will definitely knock your socks off and I'm so excited already for our Sweet Affair April 24th. Remember to get your donations in soon so they can print the program. I'm guilty as well for being last minute with that task but even donating time with a friend to help sort out a BV family's garage or a closet organizing afternoon is an affordable option. I wish I had a villa to donate but I'll just keep buying my lottery tickets! Thank you to everyone for the many Prioritization Process questionnaires that were turned in. I couldn't believe the overflowing basket of sheets! The school board meeting Wednesday, Feb. 10th, starts at 6 but is open to the public at 7pm. The proposed budget reduction plan will be posted on the school district website by Feb 8th. Also remember to sign up for Advocacy Day! Thanks for your attention and have a great weekend. If you have any concerns or questions feel free to contact me. Dana Fillinger Ashburn PTA President danafillinger@me.com |

Thank you to Jorge and Kathi Torres for securing a $2,000 grant from Jorge's employer, Intermec, Inc. This much-needed money will be used to buy Lexia reading software license upgrades that are critical to our reading specialists' ability to help our students. The BVE community appreciates the Torres' and Intermec's generosity -- especially in these difficult financial times.
Thank you Jorge and Kathi!

Enjoy the Long Weekend
